America’s Got Talent Fantasy League: Inside Mel B’s net worth after singer lost millions

As America’s Got Talent Fantasy League kicks off, Daily Express US delves into the sensational judges with Mel B’s lengthy career in the spotlight preceding her as she returns to the panel.
While she is nowhere near business mogul Simon Cowell’s staggering nine-figure net worth, the former Spice Girl has a hefty $6million under her belt according to Celebrity Networth, but it has been hard-earned.
The figure is also tens of millions less than she was worth during the height of her Spice Girls fame.
The sensational pop group plucked its five singers from obscurity and catapulted them into stardom in 1996, including Mel B as Scary Spice alongside the likes of Mel C, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham.
As one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, the five Spice Girls quickly started racking up millions across the globe, becoming such a sensation that their influence was dubbed Spicemania.

During the height of this fame, Mel B was worth a staggering $30million but made a slew of unfortunate investments according to Yahoo that started to tank her earnings, leaving her with just $1,000 in her bank account at one point.
Additionally, the mother-of-two ended 2017 with a pricey divorce from her second husband, Stephen Belafonte, with People reporting at the time that she was ordered to pay over $40,000 a month in child support.
The very next year, Metro reported that the England-born star was facing troubles with the IRS and owed between $350,000 and $650,000 in taxes dating back to 2016.
In documents seen by The Blast at the time, the Wannabe singer reportedly told the IRS that she did not have the “financial capabilities” to pay off the debts at the time and she began getting taxed directly from her America’s Got Talent salary.
However, the Hollywood star proved her tenacity as she nimbly got back on her feet in 2019 thanks to a hefty additional income from the brief Spice Girls reunion tour with Scary Spice reportedly earning more than $1million from this stint alone.
Her renewed contract with America’s Got Talent also allowed the star to get ahead of her debts and start building up her millions again, with Celebrity Net Worth reporting that she was banking $240,000 per episode at the time.
AGT: Fantasy League starts tomorrow night on NBC.
